My take

I’m trying to give my body everything it needs. Preferably as whole foods, because I don’t believe we are (yet?) aware of every nutrient we need as a human. But also because nutrients from whole foods are much more easily absorbed into the body, because the cofactors are present. Also (probably for that very reason), you need far less of a nutrient when it comes in a whole food than when it comes from a supplement.

The fact that I still take quite a lot of supplements is that my body is still lacking in specific nutrients that are hard to get from food. Or I haven’t found a good and practical food source yet.

My supplement regime (may 2014):

  • Morning:
    • Lysine (Nature’s Life or Now Foods, 1 teaspoon) on empty stomach, for my cold sores
    • B12 sublingually
    • Fish oil (Sonne’s no 5) for vit A and vit D.
    • Vit E (mixed tocopherols from Healthy Origins). Add vit E whenever you supplement with fish oils or other essential fatty acids, to help prevent them from oxidizing too rapidly in your body (dr. Wright).
    • Adrenals (my adrenals are still struggling)
    • K2 MK4 (Peak K2 from Advanced Series: 15 mg)
    • K2 MK7 (Now Foods 100 mcg)
    • Molybdenum. I take quite a lot of sulfur, molybdenum helps process this.
    • 200 ml of water with added to it:
      • Brewer’s yeast (either Lewis Labs or Bluebonnet). For all B-vitamins except B12. It also has a lot of minerals. Half of daily dose.
      • ACV 1 tblsp
      • SSKI (thyroid support + general health), one gram + of I
      • 1 tblsp liver powder
      • 1/2 tspn creatine monohydrate
      • 1/2 tspn turmeric
      • 1 tblsp gelatine
    • Progesterone cream (Now Foods Natural Progesterone Liposomal Skin Cream: one pump)
    • Now Foods Liver detoxifier and regenerator + Super Enzymes
  • Mid-morning:
    • Q10 (Healthy Origings 100 mg)
    • Magnesium (Doctor’s Best: 2x)
    • MSM-1000 (Jarrow Formula’s)
  • Lunch:
    • Zinc lozenge (Nature’s Way, 23 mg)
    • Vitamin C (Now Foods, incl bioflavonoids: 1000 mg)
    • Now Foods Liver detoxifier and regenerator + Super Enzymes
  • Dinner:
    • Brewer’s yeast. Other half of daily dose.
    • Now Foods Liver detoxifier and regenerator + Super Enzymes
    • 1 tblsp gelatine
  • Before bed:
    • Progesterone cream (Now Foods Natural Progesterone Liposomal Skin Cream: one pump)
    • Lysine (Nature’s Life or Now Foods, 1 teaspoon)
    • Magnesium (Doctor’s Best: 2x)
    • Boron (Now Foods 3 mg or as borax)
    • K2 MK4 (Peak K2 from Advanced Series: 15 mg)
    • K2 MK7 (Now Foods 100 mcg)
